2020 – Covid-19

During the Covid-19 pandemic we have been unable to meet in person as normal Border Women events have been impossible. A temporary Zoom account has been purchased by Border Women so members can meet-up online. The varied and imaginative Zoom events are organised by members but hosted by moderators for financial security. They are posted on our Facebook page.

Members should feel free to arrange additional online events themselves using a free Zoom account. Just set-up a Zoom meeting and post the event on Facebook including the meeting link and entry codes. Note that free accounts can limit conversations to 45 minutes but that those present can sign in again and carry on chatting.

Border Women got a very favourable mention on Woman’s Hour on Wednesday, 30th September 2015, when a letter from Holly was read out:

Shropshire is a great place to be a lesbian. There are numerous gay-friendly events, venues and activities. And most noteworthy, there is a fantastic self-sustaining network for lesbian and bisexual women from across the counties along the England – Wales border.  It’s called Border Women, it’s been running since 1988 and members organise events for all tastes and ages.

You can still find it on BBC IPlayer – skip to 15 minutes in to get there quickly.
